With over 45 years of experience in the timber industry, Tom Maddox, owner of 4M Timber, is a trusted and highly respected figure in both the Applegate Valley community and the broader Southern Oregon timber sector. His career has been rooted in hands-on work as a timber feller and private logger, where he has overseen and coordinated countless timber harvests—primarily focusing on mature timber destined for regional mills. Known for his deep connection with local landowners and residents, Tom also serves as president of the Upper Applegate Grange Hall, further reflecting his commitment to community. His strong rapport with landowners has made him the go-to professional for small-scale timber harvests and hazard tree mitigation projects throughout the area. Tom’s reputation for quality and dependability is well earned. On several occasions, projects initially awarded to lower-bidding firms were later turned over to Tom after the original contractors failed—due to poor equipment, inexperience, or ineffective methods—leaving property owners in difficult situations. Tom's ability to step in, restore trust, and deliver excellent results speaks volumes about his professionalism and expertise. Passionate about sustainable forestry, Tom is a strong advocate for responsible timber practices throughout the Applegate Valley. For the past 25 years, he has also offered custom sawmill services, which have gained a loyal following among Southern Oregon homeowners and contractors. Known for producing high-quality, specialty lumber, 4M Timber has become a regional leader in custom milling—thanks in large part to Tom’s ability to source exceptional logs through his longstanding relationships with local landowners.
